Jesus (peace be upon him) Lewd Statue
I was told by a Christian colleague recently that Gateshead's Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in England displayed a naked and lewd statue of Jesus (peace be upon him) by artist Terence Koh which is considered very offensive to Muslims and Christians.
I wont go into detail about who the statue was depicted but suffice to say that it is very offensive to anyone who reveres Jesus (peace be upon him.) There was a sign put up outside the gallery warning visitors of the nature of the work on display but I still feel that this type of statue should not be displayed at all.
I am asking you to sign this petition for 2 reasons:
1. To stop Gateshead's Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art displaying offensive art
2. To ask the artist Terence Koh to be more considerate when creating art
I understand there is freedom of speech and expression in the UK but I ask that we take it upon ourselves to be considerate to other peoples feelings especially when it comes to revered figures. I would welcome art which unites people rather than art which causes disunity.
