It has been reported by DVDFile.com that the only fullscreen titles you have confirmed for the Movie Showcase line are those two films, and we find it unacceptable.
In the press release for Disneys Movie Showcase line, Robert Chapek said himself that "This slate of DVDs truly offers something for everyone, at a price that allows families to own, collect and enjoy many of the quality films they've loved in theaters in the past.''
The Muppets have been going strong for 25 years now, and the presentation of their films on the best home video medium in less than optimal conditions is unsatisfactory for the wide and varied fan base they have built up over the years. These are not just movies for children, these are films that have fans the world over. We did love these movies in the past, and now we want to own them in the best presentation possible.
Columbia/Tristar was able to recognize this, and released their catalogue of Muppet movies in anamorphic widescreen with remixed sound. We respectfully ask Disney to do the same, or risk alienating fans of the movies that know what widescreen is and why it is better for both the original presentation of films, and the technical advantages of anamorphic widescreen encoding for widescreen television sets.
