As Mary Washington College Alumni, we rise up in support of our College retaining the name Mary Washington. Throughout the years countless individuals have made their way down Campus Walk in anticipation of a diploma and membership into the Alumni Association. This achievement took hours of dedication and a strong desire to succeed. Our continued reward is the right to boast to future employers and graduate schools our achievement a Mary Washington College education. The only public college in the nation named for a woman, it is recognized as an institution that produces some of the best and brightest in the Virginia system of higher education. Keeping in mind the College may change to university status, we firmly believe the sole appropriate name is Mary Washington University.

We, the undersigned, vow to discontinue any current or future financial support to the College if the name Mary Washington is replaced.

Much more than a name, Mary Washington College is a permanent part of our resumes, our educational history, and our lives.
