Defense of the Northern Saskatchewan Right Whale |
To: all Canadian Members of ParliamentWe the undersigned citizens of Canada and other Nations petition the Government of Canada as follows:
WHEREAS the Northern Saskatchewan Right Whale is an endangered species as defined by the United Nations, and;
WHEREAS the Canadian Government continues to allow the hunting and killing of Northern Saskatchewan Right Whales for scientific research, as a source of Inuit food, and as part of a misguided effort to reduce whale-caused deterioration of Arctic Krill stocks in Hudson Bay, and;
WHEREAS in August of 2009 the renewal of this practice will be subject to a vote in the House of Commons,
WE HEREBY URGE AND DEMAND, in the strongest possible terms, that it be made the unswerving policy of all parties in Parliament to firmly stand against this wanton slaughter, prevent the extinction of the Northern Saskatchewan Right Whale and secure once again Canada's good name in matters of environmental stewardship by voting against any motion or bill brought before the House that would allow this hunt to continue.Sincerely,
