The Sitting Government of Israel Must Be Dissolved, and New Elections Held Within 100 Days

To:  All parties with mandates in the current Knesset

We believe that the current Israeli administration has failed in its basic responsibility to protect Israeli civilians, and as such has lost the moral authority to govern The State of Israel. Therefore, we call for the immediate dissolution of the current Knesset with new elections to be held within 100 days.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF ANY POLITICAL PARTY. IT IS A CALL FOR THE ELECTORATE TO DECIDE ITS OWN FUTURE AT THIS CRITICAL TIME OF NATIONAL UNANIMITY.

We believe this becasue of the following facts.

The Olmert Government proclaimed that the Second Lebanese War would not end until:
1) Hizzballah was disarmed and moved north of the Litani River, and
2) An International force other than UNIFIL was deployed to keep Guerillas out of Southern Lebanon, and
3) The soldiers illegally kidnapped from Israeli soil by Hizzballah terrorists, Ehud Goldwasser & Eldad Regev, along with Gilad Shalit, illegally captured by Hamas terrorists on the southern border of Israel were returned unharmed, and
4) Israel succeeded in creating a new sense of regional deterrence.

The Olmert Government then accepted a UN resolution ending the war which accomplished none of these goals.

Further, the lack of leadership is manifested by:
1) The inability by PM Olmert and Defense Minister Peretz to approve a clear military strategy resulted in the unnecessary loss of Israeli life, and
2) Logistical and tactical failures, including lack of training, lack of command chain, insufficient core supplies such as food an water for the soldiers, and a complete disregard for solutions for residents of the North constituting gross misconduct, and
3) The infusion of the divisive politics of convergence in the middle of a war which had united this country- a war which he himself called a "War for our very existence," and
4) The failure to ensure a mechanism was put in place which would prevent Iran and Syria from rearming Hizzballah, and
5) Ordering reservists to sit in the Knesset as he spoke about approving the Cease-fire agreement, these brave men who served honorably should be returned home to their families not pawns in the prime ministers PR campaign, and
6) The UN cease-fire resolution was approved unanimously by the cabinet with one abstention.

There is broad agreement from left to right of the Israeli electorate that this government has failed, and the members of the current coalition must resign to make way for new elections.
