At Florida State University, winning is a tradition. The loyal fans and alumni have come to expect not just winning teams, but a winning attitude. That said, we feel it is time to make way for the future quarterback of the football team.

We feel it is time to start Wyatt Sexton or Xavier Lee. With expectations as high as they are, a 2004 National Championship is all but lost. This is the final year for Chris Rix, and he has underperformed once again and hopefully for the final time.

In the last four games versus the University of Miami, Rix has thrown for 525 yards and only four touchdowns in addition to five interceptions and has been sacked five times.

The argument isn't based entirely on FSU-UM games. In the loss to Clemson in 2003 that essentially cost FSU the chance at the BCS title game, Rix threw no touchdowns, two interceptions and rushed for -8 yards.

Chris Rix's opportunity to lead the Seminoles has ended. There is nowhere for Florida State to go but deeper down the polls with increasingly talented ACC opponents. The offense is still capable, the defense is outstanding, and the outcome of this most recent Miami loss could not have been much worse with another quarterback at the helm. This is why two of the leading high school quarterbacks in the country came to this university: to play. If now is not the time, what is?
