Make a New STP Album Please Mr. Weiland |
Closed this because I frustrated some Scott/STP fans which was not my intention. I'm a huge fan of Scott and just wanted to create some interest and some conversation about a new record, I didn't think some fans would take it so personally.
To: Scott R. WeilandIn recent interviews Mr. Weiland you have been saying that you may not want to continue with STP because you guys have "left your mark" on the music industry and you just want to do solo work and be with your kids and not tour as much. We understand you wanting to spend more time with your family and tour less, but you owe it to STP fans to make at least one more STP album. You even alluded to in several interviews in 2007 that STP needed another album as a proper "bookend." Do you really want the last memory of STP to be a moneygrab Greatest Hits tour? Do you want to be remembered as a sellout? Is that the bookend you wanted for STP? You need to remember that the majority of your fans are STP fans first and foremost. Like your bandmate Robert DeLeo said, STP is home.
If you do not make another STP album we will not buy your future solo albums or clothing line, even though I doubt you'll ever release that. We're still waiting for the Shangri LA DEE DA coffee book and documentary. You only sold 10,000 opening week for "Happy In Galoshes" and if you don't stick with STP I'd expect that number to be even lower and in the territory of Ted Nugent solo albums. You did sell almost almost as much as Filter's "Anthems For The Damned" but I'm not really sure if that's much of an accomplishment. It's not that we don't like your solo work, it's great, it's just that you NEED to make another STP album. Dean, Robert, and Eric want it, all of your fans want it, and I know there's legal issues with Atlantic but the lawyers will settle that and you haven't even been using that as an excuse recently. So please Scott, make another STP album. Everybody has seen what has happened to Chris Cornell's career solo in recent years. Do you want that? I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But look at Eddie Vedder, he's stayed with his band Pearl Jam and been able to do some side projects and he's been successful for decades. Stay with STP and make another album, that is all we ask Scott.Sincerely,
