This petition is to protest against plans to build a new bypass just north of Luton. It will be named the North Luton Bypass and will start at a planned new junction 11A of the M1 motorway to the A6 next to housing estates such as Sundon Park, Marsh Farm, Bramingham, Bushmead as well as affecting Warden Hills and other areas of natural beauty. Miles of lovely countryside would be lost forever as well as woodland and affecting wildlife such as deer, fox and birds of prey. Luton Borough Council, South Beds District Council and Bedfordshire County Council are all backing the plans and this petition is part of a wider protest to let them know how we feel. My family moved to the area nearly 50 years ago to get away from the hustle and bustle of London, the countryside and peace and quiet is why people live here, the authorities must not be allowed to take that away from us. These plans have been put forward before in 1989 and 2002 and both times were defeated, we must be victorious again. The money that would be spent on these plans cannot be justified when the credit crunch and recession is biting and many people are unemployed. Luton council cannot be allowed to ruin Lutons major roads with poorly thought out road improvements which cause congestion and then build more roads to solve a problem they created! Please sign this petition and make your feelings known. This road is not needed and will cause untold misery to local peoples lives as well as causing serious damage to the countryside and environnment. Thanks for your support.
