We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the renewal of a 5-year variance permit issued to Peter Halsch, authorizing the relief of the Blue Mountain Lake shoreline set-back.

1.) AS RESIDENTS, both permanent and seasonal, we do not want to be subjected to look at the massive shelter placed over the 75 steamboat, The Tuscarora on the shores of Blue Mountain Lake any longer. We are opposed to a renewal of a permit which would further delay in the removal of this hangar-like shelter and steamboat. As property owners, we are subjected to stay within the guidelines of the zoning laws, and the laws of the APA, and feel this temporary variance has exceeded a reasonable time for resolution.

2.) AS VISITORS to the Adirondack Park, we are opposed to the unsightliness of this obstacle which stands out from all of its surroundings. We expect more from the local officials as well as the APA. We are opposed to a renewal.

3.) AS HISTORIANS AND TOUR GUIDES we would like to tour the lake, informing and educating our visitors, without this large obstacle on the shoreline. We are opposed to a renewal.

Thus, we urge you to decline Mr. Halschs application for a permit to renew his variance of a lake setback. We request this in order to restore the shoreline of Blue Mountain Lake to its natural state of beauty.
