Americans against an Obama Day

To:  Lamont Lassiter, McDonald's general manager

Dear Mr. Lassiter,

We, the undersigned, are offended and will not acknowledge a national holiday in honor of President-Elect Obama. We realize that you are not the organizer of the event your restaurant is hosting, nor to the events leading up to this holiday. We find this holiday offensive for many reasons. Americans already have a President's Day. We do not have a holiday for John Kennedy, our first Catholic President, nor do we have a holiday for Theodore Roosevelt, the first president to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.
President-Elect Obama lacks any accomplishments that give him the right to the recognition of a national holiday. We are asking that the McDonald's Corporation as a whole back out of their support of this event. We are asking that the McDonald's restaurant(s) under your jurisdiction also back out of their support of this event. We all have firsts in our lives, all of our experiences are important to us, but we do not all have holidays for each of them.
