Request for Bill - Michigan Suspended License: Temporary Restricted License for All

This petition is to help Michigan legislators take notice to the increasing problem of citizens stuck in a never-ending loop of Driving While License Suspended charges.

Current laws do not make it easy for traffic offenders to get their drivers licenses back, in some aspects, it may seem impossible. The law takes, but does not give.

Current laws will suspend a person’s driver’s license until a fine is paid, or a certain amount of time has passed, or other obligations are met. Current laws make you choose between making a living, and breaking the law, which is unethical.

This petition wants to see the production and development of a bill, which will give Michigan State Residents a "second chance" a reclaiming their driving privileges. We, the people of Michigan, ask that our legislators, put into action, a bill that will allow persons with suspended driving privileges one chance per every 24 months, to receive a restricted drivers license for work purposes only, that has an "end of life" time limit attached to it, that will allow suspended license holders that do not have multiple accidents or drug/alcohol-related offenses on their record, the ability to still LEGALLY get back and forth to work, so they may provide for themselves or their family, and pay their fines within the "end of life" date.

The bill would allow citizens a chance to pay their debt to society, fulfill their obligations, and receive their license back if they completed all requirements of their suspension, while operating under a time-sensitive restricted driver’s license.

The bill would also help the state reclaim monetary fines from citizens, that may have otherwise not have been able, or willing, to pay due to a sense of hopelessness, or even the inability to get back and forth from work.
