No-Kill Minnesota

To:  Local Governments

Whereas each year an estimated 20,000 dogs and cats are killed in Twin Cities area shelters and impound centers simply because there are not enough homes for them;

And whereas communities all over the United States have implemented no-kill policies toward adoptable companion animals, and are reporting dramatic and consistent results in ending the killing of healthy pets:

I support the goal of Minnesota communities becoming no-kill communities through the active partnership of public and private efforts to promote sterilization of companion animals. I also agree there should be a central, public registry that records accurate information about the number of impounded companion animals and the location of impound facilities.
