Stop Unwanted Promotional Circulars |
To: Kohl's Department Stores, Bravo Supermarkets, and other businesses that distribute unwanted advertisingEvery day, piles of plastic bags filled with newspapers, coupons, and advertisements are thrown on the front steps of each home in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. The bags come primarily from Kohl's department stores and Bravo supermarkets. These bags of junk mail make the neighborhood look filthy and unsightly. However, the real issue here is the fact that these businesses are generating an obscene amount of waste. The volume of paper and plastic they throw onto the street each day is almost unthinkable. In this day and age, when we must strive to be more environmentally conscious, it is appalling that stores would continue to advertise this way.
We therefore urge businesses to STOP the unwanted distribution of any and all promotional materials, including but not limited to plastic bags, circulars, newspapers, coupons, flyers, leaflets, cards, and pamphlets. Marketing to people this way is ineffective, wasteful, and harmful to the environment. Please help restore the beauty of our neighborhood and stop the unnecessary waste generated by these businesses.
Thank you.Sincerely,
