In the great tradition of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, this petition serves to put Jennifer Lopez on notice that we of the Black and hip-hop communities are financially boycotting all of her entertainment endeavors. This boycott will include, but not be limited to, Ms. Lopezs music, clothing, restaurant, movies, television shows, and perfumes.

Consider, if you will, the fact that Ms. Lopezs successful career is largely due to her affiliations with African-Americans celebrities. She was a dancer for Janet Jackson. She was a dancer on Keenan Ivory Wayanss show, In Living Color. She was romantically linked to Sean Combs, after which her hip-hop career took off. She has utilized various hip-hop samples in her music. She has collaborated musically with rappers Ja Rule and Nas as well as Ashanti. Incredibly enough, Jennifer Lopez asserts that her music is not of Black origin. Perhaps through her affiliations with the Black and hip hop communities, Ms. Lopez thought it appropriate for her to use the word Nigger in her song Im Real.

It is because of this great contradiction and hypocrisy on Ms. Lopezs part that we also call for a ban of her music on Urban (Black) radio stations, considering she does not want her music labeled as such. We also call on a ban of her music videos on Black Entertainment Television.

We take great exception to her careless, nonchalant use of the derogatory N word. We take greater exception to her nonexistent apology to those in the African-American community who may have been offended by her use of this word. We refuse to be exploited and insulted by Ms. Lopez any longer. We refuse to support anyone who disrespects our culture while simultaneously benefiting from it.
