No Walmart in Western Shawnee |
To: Residents of Western ShawneeThis is a petition to stop Wal-Mart's plans to build a 200,000-square-foot, 24 hour Supercenter at Johnson Drive and Clear Creek Parkway, the former location of Woodsonia Elementary School in Western Shawnee.
The outpouring of disdain by the residents of Western Shawnee and the homeowners of Grey Oaks about this proposed development have been ignored but we are not backing down yet.
We the signers of this petition agree as one that the development of a Wal-mart Superstore in Western Shawnee should be stopped based on the following concerns:
1) The development of this Superstore is unsafe as the the area is not conducive to the traffic and congestion this development will cause, at an already at-times dangerous intersection. Concerns are also that the development is unsafe due to its proposed distance to subdivisions, school crossings, bus stops and school buildings.
2) The development of this Superstore will bring crime to a community that has otherwise been a safe place to live and a tight knit community.
3) The development of this Superstore will lower property values and standard of living in a community that prides itself on having small schools and safe surroundings.
4) The development of this Superstore is within 10 minutes of more than one previously built Wal-mart Supercenter.Sincerely,
