Say No to BBQ Proposed Location at JW st.93 |
Dear All, after the meeting with the Pioneer Neighbourhood Standing Committee and RC chair/members, the BBQ pits will most likely be installed at the same approved location even though some RC members also agreed that the central area is too confined and has bad air circulation. A survey may be carried out by RC for all the 17 blocks instead of the affected 10 blocks facing the central garden only. If they get 75% saying yes, they will install the pits. Pls ask your unaffected neighbours not to support the survey and we will thank them for being a considerate neighbour as they do not build their happiness upon others unhappiness. Please encourage your neighbours to participate in the petition as well. The petition will continue and we need a lot more signatures to convince the RC to abort their plan. If you would like to help, please email me at ongong8@gmail.com. Thank you.
To: JURONG WEST ZONE 3 RESIDENTS ST.93Background
The Resident Committee of our zone has recently received approval from HDB to place 2 BBQ pits at the central garden area near to Blocks 989b and c.
Reasons Against Proposed Location
(1) The proposed location is near the block gaps of 989b/c and 987b/c. When it blows south wind (Apr - Oct), Blocks 987b and c will catch the bbq oily smoke. When it blows north wind (Nov - Mar), blocks 989b and c will catch the oily smoke. Who will wash the greasy windows for the affected residents? The already polluted air that we breath (polluted by factory fumes) will be further polluted by the bbq smoke.
(2) Central area where the main playground, badminton courts and sheltered function area are already very congested and the noise level now is already very high for the many surrounding blocks. To be fair to these blocks, we should have other additional activities at other blocks near the two other smaller playgrounds.
(3) Hard to control the usage time. Residents may finish barbequing at the designated booking hours, e.g. 10pm but may stay around the bbq area until late at night which will create noise for the surrounding residents whose bedrooms are all facing the central area. Who will ask these residents to keep their volume down if they stay late at the BBQ pits? Police? Resident Committee members?
Petition:
We call on the West Coast Town Council and Residents' Committee to change the location to in front of 987A and/or abort the installation plan for two BBQ pits in front of 989b and c.
The petition results (your email address will not be shown) will be emailed to the West Coast Town Council and Residents' Committee. Please remember to indicate the flat owner's name as proof that the creater did not sign the petition himself. The information will be kept confidential within the Town Council and Residents' committee. Your email address will also be kept confidential by me (author). Please sign the petition to support it.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
