We the undersigned hereby Petition Neath Council to ensure direct access to areas of employment from the Neath Valley.

From December 6th 2009, Glynneath, Resolven and Seven Sisters will not have a direct route from the villages to Swansea City. These villages are only directly linked to Neath where there is not enough employment opportunities meaning people have to be able to travel to Swansea easily. We believe that the direct buses should be reinstated with First Cymru or a new direct route should be created by using a different company.

The Council should also provide a bus service on Sunday morning to Swansea because people do have to work Sundays whether it is in a shop or in a hospital etc, in addition the council should also provide a better service in the night, which would allow people from these areas to work night shifts in Swansea.

Not only should this be resolved but the council should provide better access to other areas of employment such as Merthyr and Aberdare which are not available to people with shifts starting at 9:00. There should also be a direct route between Glynneath, Resolven and Port Talbot. With high unemployment in the villages of the Neath Valley, more must be done to allow people to travel without hassle to and from work.

If the public transport does not improve in these areas, the council should lower the Council tax charges because vital services are not being provided.
