To:  Mike Ashley and Newcastle United management

It was announced on Tuesday, October 27th that Mike Ashley and the management team of Newcastle United would be "welcoming offers for the stadium naming rights for [the 2010-2011 season]."
St. James' Park has been the home ground of Newcastle United since 1892 and has kept the same name for each of those 117 years. The notion of selling naming rights to this historical ground is an outright travesty. The fans of Newcastle United Football Club stand together with fans from around the world in rejecting the rapidly-growing and broadening commercial influence that is tainting the beautiful game in ways we could never imagine.
We may not have a choice in who owns our team, but we will NOT stand idly by and allow them to arbitrarily change such an important part of our team's identity.
Keep the name "St. James' Park."

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
