We the undersigned, believe that now is the time for the NEW WARRIORS to return to publication by Marvel Comics.

With the recent initiative by Marvel of acknowledging and returning to print its more recent past and non-iconic characters (ALPHA FLIGHT, CABLE/DEADPOOL, EXCALIBUR, THUNDERBOLTS, et al.), we feel that the climate is right for one of the most fondly-remembered and critically-acclaimed super-hero books Marvel published in the 1990s.

NEW WARRIORS utilized compelling and relatable characters dealing with challenging issues amidst colorful and exciting superhero adventures. The title's underdog quality, a missed marketing opportunity if ever there was one, incited a cult following which remains strong to this day. Web-sites and message boards focusing on the New Warriors continue to attract impressive activity for a property that has remained inactive for approximately 4 years.

The creative force that injected the New Warriors with passion and energy, writer Fabian Nicieza, pencilers Mark Bagley, Darick Robertson, and Patrick Zircher, and editor Tom Brevoort, still show enthusiasm for the characters and an interest in bringing them back to print. And with such hot talent at the House of Ideas, including some with exclusive contracts, the timing once again seems right.

Nicieza considers New Warriors #1-25 among his best mainstream work, still holding up to this day. When asked in a recent interview what was holding up a New Warriors revival, Nicieza simply replied "One never knows" At comic conventions, Roberston has expressed interest in a Speedball solo project. Bagley and Zircher still reflect fondly on their New Warriors days in interviews. Brevoort's track record and affection for the characters has proven that perhaps no one else is more capable to guide these characters back to the limelight.

The wonderful success of SUPREME POWER proves that great talent telling great stories and backed with solid marketing can be generously rewarded.

The New Warriors can be more than Marvel's version of DC's Teen Titans. They can be Marvel's NEW WARRIORS. And let the others follow.

The undersigned support the publication of a NEW WARRIORS or New Warriors-related comic from Marvel Comics in 2004.
