To The Legislative Assembly of Ontario:

Whereas climate change is recognized as a global crisis that requires immediate action

Whereas in Ontario alone greenhouse gas emissions have grown by 16\% over the past decade

Whereas provincial policies in energy, transportation, planning and infrastructure can reduce emissions in accordance to the Kyoto Protocol

Whereas Ontario has received failing marks for not having a coordinated strategy in place to tackle climate change and reduce emissions

Whereas the Ontario Climate Change Act, tabled by MPP Peter Tabuns, requires Ontario, as a minimum, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance to Kyoto targets, and for the Minister of Environment to prepare a plan to meet these targets

Whereas the Ontario Climate Change Act, in recognition that Kyoto is a starting point, also mandates that Ontario set targets and establish climate change plans for beyond 2012

Therefore we the undersigned petition that the Legislative Assembly of Ontario pass the Ontario Climate Change Act
