To:  U.S. Ways & Means Sub-Committee on Social Security

Please support HR 1289, The Social Security Fairness for the Terminally Ill Act of 2009

I am requesting your support of H.R. 1289, The Social Security Fairness for the Terminally Ill Act of 2009. The bill is designed to amend Title II of the Social Security Act by waiving the 5 month mandatory wait period for benefits for terminally ill applicants (defined as someone who has a life expectancy of six months or less). Essentially this bill would afford benefits to qualified terminally ill applicants who otherwise would not live long enough to receive them.

Please help us ensure this important legislation is signed into law by pledging your support and encouraging your colleagues to do the same.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
