FUN WITHOUT TORTURE!

To:  Catalan Parliament and Citycouncil Olot

1. The declaration of principles of the Catalan Animal Protection Law 22/2003 of 4 July considers the animals as beings with physical and psychological sensitivity.

2. The Plenary Counsel of the City Hall of Barcelona, in accordance with the ethical principles, has declared itself to be against the celebration of bullfights (6-4-2004).

3. Bullfighting is a public show that is practising and has as goal to cause physical and psychological suffering, pain and the death of the bulls, in addition to mistreating and putting in danger the horses.

4. As a cruel and violent public show, bullfighting is anti-educative, hurts the sensitivity and is incompatible with the principle of respect that the animals deserve.

As a consequence, the persons that sign below support us and ask the Olot City Council to declare Olot an Anti-Bullfighting Town and that the Catalan parliament promote and approve, within a short time, the modification of the Animal Protection Law, prohibiting the celebration of bullfights in Catalonia.
