To:  U.S. Congress

Price-fixing is illegal, and many Americans went to jail for it. OPEC manipulates oil price, yet its officials walk free. They rob the American people, and invest the criminal proceeds in the United States: more than a trillion dollars.

A handful of states should not control a resource so important to all humanity as oil. The world like a herd of lambs suffers from OPEC’s monopoly prices, a collusion illegal in any civilized country.

The U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco decided in 1981 it has no authority over the acts by foreign states, but non-sovereign oil companies effect price hikes. The Supreme Court’s Keeton vs. Hustler established jurisdiction of a state where the product is intentionally sold. The U.S. prosecutes foreigners violating American laws without entering the country, such as heads of drug cartels, terrorists, and even diplomatically immune rulers. OPEC, which engages in operations illegal in the U.S., should be treated similarly.

The reason behind the West’s acceptance is the lobbying: oil corporations profit enormously from the price hikes. If the United States priced some scarce resource fifty times above the cost, there would be an outcry. Would the world sit silent if someone monopolized fresh water and jacked the price up?

The OPEC members use oil to fund terrorists and fundamentalists worldwide. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, defended and directly fought for by the United States, steer the oil racket.

Breaking OPEC would lower the oil prices. Countries like Russia will rush to sell America their oil, and former OPEC members will also resume the supply, but at lower prices. Outlawing OPEC will cause no disruption of the supply at the nearest gasoline station.

Stop the oil racket! Outlaw the OPEC!

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
