Demand an apology from Bill O'Reilly

We, the undersigned, demand that Bill O’Reilly of FOX News issue a formal apology immediately for his egregious racial insensitivity.

On February 7th, 2003, FOX News commentator Bill O’Reilly hosted a segment entitled “porous US borders” on his show, The O’Reilly Factor. His guest was Congressman Silvestre Reyes. During the show, O’Reilly made the following comment (which can be found at http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,77898,00.html):

”We'd save lives because Mexican wetbacks, whatever you want to call them, the coyotes -- they're not going to do what they're doing now, so people aren't going to die in the desert. So we save lives, all right, and we seal it down and make it 100 times harder to come across.”

Mr. O’Reilly has yet to apologize for or even acknowledge his insensitive, bigoted use of the racial slurs “wetbacks” and “coyotes”. We are appalled that FOX News has yet to condemn O’Reilly’s remarks. We call on all people of conscience to join us in demanding that Mr. O’Reilly apologize at once, not only to Hispanic Americans but to ALL Americans, for his hateful and inflammatory remarks.
