Enforce Lemon Laws in Pet Shops of Tennessee

Laws like these would help protect the animals in pet stores. Recently, I became the victim of pet store neglect. My kitten, whom was purchased at a pet store on Friday, May 29, 2009 passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 due to a roundworm infestation that went untreated at the pet store. De-worming and flea/tick baths should be a requirement at most pet stores in the state of Tennessee. Due to the lack of laws to protect animals here, many pet stores will leave these conditions untamed. If these laws existed, my kitten,... my son would still be alive.

There are no laws in the state of Tennessee to protect animals in pet shops. In most cases this results in neglect and abuse of the animals. Appropriate testing and treatment is not required for such conditions as Feline Leukemia/HIV, worms, fleas, ticks, and other parasites. This is a health hazard, not only for all the animals in the pet store, but also the people who come into contact with the animals in the pet store, which otherwise jeopardizes the health of these peoples' pets. Please help us protect the animals in these stores by helping enforce laws that ensure the proper testing and treatment in the state of Tennessee.
