In recognition of the fight by citizens of Kings County, Nova Scotia, to protect hundreds of acres of agricultural land from development-purposed amendments to the land use by-law, as brought forward by the Municipality of the County of Kings, and
In recognition of the work of the Nova Scotia Agricultural Land Review Committee,
Be it resolved, that there is a need to strengthen the Province of Nova Scotias interest in agricultural land to ensure such land is respected as a non-renewable resource and given unequivocal protection from development.
With my endorsement I petition the Councillors of the Municipality of the County of Kings and/or the Members of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia to place a moratorium on any further development of Nova Scotia's agricultural land, in order to ensure the food security of future generations of Nova Scotians.
