Dear Sir,

We, the alumni of Presidency College, Kolkata – 700073, are submitting this petition to show our concern against the decision of discontinuing the admission tests in some disciplines.

The age-old tradition of taking tests for admission has benefited many bright students who failed to score good marks in board exams for many unavoidable reasons. The admission tests in Presidency College being completely knowledge based, students with keen interest and deep knowledge in a subject always able to get admitted even if they fail to compete with mark sheet score in board exams. Discontinuing the admission tests would shut the door of a prestigious institution to those low-scoring yet bright students. We feel that the decision of doing away with admission tests would strongly affect the quality of students output of the college and therefore would like to request to reconsider the decision.
