On 3rd February 2005 Colette Lynch, a 24 year old mother of 3, was brutally stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack, at the hands of her estranged partner Percy Wright.
Colette's mother, Helen Lynch, was also viciously stabbed, but survived the attack.
Wright was convicted of Colette's manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and is now subject to a hospital order.
This was a tragedy that might have been prevented had agencies responded to Colette's countless calls for help in the weeks, days and hours leading up to her death.
On 6th March 2009 a tribunal will be held which will decide whether Wright is to be released into the community.
Should Wright be released he will pose a threat to the safety of the public.
The failure of public agencies to recognise and respond to this threat in 2005 cost Colette her life.
The public cannot bear the risk of agencies failing to recognise the danger Wright continues to present.

We, the undersigned, urge the Ministry of Justice to intervene in the forthcoming tribunal to ensure that Wright is not released.

    • People charged with manslaughter under the mental health act, should be held accountable once treatment is complete and to then serve appropriate prison sentence.

    • The justice system is a joke (but not a funny one). Harmless Ronnie Biggs stilll in prison, but the thugs who beat and kill people can get off or be out of prison quicker than the blink of an eye. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us!
