More Info at:
On 3rd February 2005 Colette Lynch, a 24 year old mother of 3, was brutally stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack, at the hands of her estranged partner Percy Wright.
Colette's mother, Helen Lynch, was also viciously stabbed, but survived the attack.
Wright was convicted of Colette's manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and is now subject to a hospital order.
This was a tragedy that might have been prevented had agencies responded to Colette's countless calls for help in the weeks, days and hours leading up to her death.
On 6th March 2009 a tribunal will be held which will decide whether Wright is to be released into the community.
Should Wright be released he will pose a threat to the safety of the public.
The failure of public agencies to recognise and respond to this threat in 2005 cost Colette her life.
The public cannot bear the risk of agencies failing to recognise the danger Wright continues to present.
We, the undersigned, urge the Ministry of Justice to intervene in the forthcoming tribunal to ensure that Wright is not released.

- If he should be kept in because he was mentally ill then so should other mentally ill patients.

- People should be more aware of this case before signing. The system let everyone down. He has suffered unnecessarily. Let him go.

- If people understood the case they would understand that the system should be punished not Percy.

- A sensitive case. Please understand what it is you are signing before you agree. I think that he should be released.

- If he was in a normal prison and got 10 years he would nearly be due for release. Remember he was ill. Let him out.

- If all mentally ill patient should be kept locked up, then her mother should too. She is also a former mentally ill patient. Maybe she will kill one day.

- He was not a stranger to her. He was her boyfriend. He has received the medical attention that she died trying to get him. If he is fit to return to society then release him.

- There are steps that a patient has to pass before being released. If he has passed them then he should be given a second chance.

- He may have been ill, but he is a killer. Therefore, he should receive justice, psychotic episode or not. And for those of you having the audacity to mention Helen Lynch's so called mental illness, being obsessive compulsive is hardly in the same league as stabbing the mother of your child to death whilst your daughter looks on. 'They' may say that he is better. 'They' did not think he was a danger in the first place, and look what happened! Keep that family safe. Keep Percy locked up. He is a murderer.

- A man who took the life of his own child's mother is not safe. The authorities failed to recognise he was a danger then. Who is to say they have it right this time? 4 years of 'treatment' is not enough. If he is better he should serve his time in a prison for the life he took.

- A SECOND CHANCE? That is what happens when people make a simple mistake. Not murder. What is wrong with you people? HE KILLED SOMEONE - LOCK HIM UP FOR LIFE

- Laughable, the argument that cos helen struggled with obsessive compulsion that this is comparable to what that killer did. the last ditch attempts of people who are clutching at straws for excuses and reasons to get this man released. a joke. and how dare they make a joke of this.

- did i just read that right? did someone just say that HE has suffered enough? that is laughable. he should suffer for all eternity for what he has done to the lynch family and his own children. anyone who can stab a woman in front of her own child - HIS own child - deserves every bit of pain and suffering they deserve. god knows the children are suffering, and for those of wright's family saying that he is better, you were the foolish people who stepped in to stop him being sectioned in the first place. you are disgusting selfish marrow minded and cruel. he should be locked up for every minute of grief and suffering he has caused to so many. that would mean he would get free in about 60 years time. when hopefully he will be rotting in hell. that sounds about right to me.

- If you don't all understand in adult terms i shall dictate this to all of percey wrights bestest best friends in child lamens terms. percy is a BAD MAN. bad men are meant to stay in prison (u no - the place where he deserves to rot and die) if you all keep getting your little friends to sign this petition so we can read your very funny little sentences you are actually helping us keep him in prison. you must all be as mentally ill as the bad man himself. he should be in strangeways not a hospital. i feel like throwing up on all his"friends" now children - sod off back to your own corner, not ours. scum.

- oh boo-hoo poor percy. every single one of percy's mates should just shut up. if the doctors think he's well then he should be released. hmmm .... let me tell you something about doctors. They told me my friend jamie was ready to come home from a mental institute, he came home and hung himself - so what do doctors no?! but with a bit of luck if he is released he'll realise he's a complete waste of DNA and hang himself anyway. HAHA!!

- happening again. All those who failed to intervene or help Percy and Colette have just as much blood on their hands as the so called proffessionals who failed both Colette and Percy.
