On 3rd February 2005 Colette Lynch, a 24 year old mother of 3, was brutally stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack, at the hands of her estranged partner Percy Wright.
Colette's mother, Helen Lynch, was also viciously stabbed, but survived the attack.
Wright was convicted of Colette's manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility and is now subject to a hospital order.
This was a tragedy that might have been prevented had agencies responded to Colette's countless calls for help in the weeks, days and hours leading up to her death.
On 6th March 2009 a tribunal will be held which will decide whether Wright is to be released into the community.
Should Wright be released he will pose a threat to the safety of the public.
The failure of public agencies to recognise and respond to this threat in 2005 cost Colette her life.
The public cannot bear the risk of agencies failing to recognise the danger Wright continues to present.
We, the undersigned, urge the Ministry of Justice to intervene in the forthcoming tribunal to ensure that Wright is not released.

- He shoule never be let out, ever. What he did was pure evil. And for that he should never deserve freedom.

- A catalogue of failures by the police, social services and national health trust occurred prior to Colette's murder. We have no reason to assume that the same failures will not occur again should Percy Wright be released. Furthermore, no precautions are being taken to protect her children and their carers in the event that he is released. Every consideration appears to be in favour of Mr Wright's human rights, but no consideration WHATSOEVER appears to be given for the rights of Patricia Lynch, Joseph Lynch, James Lynch or Patrick Lynch. It's time real justice was dispensed to the victims of this crime, not just lip-service and hypocrisy from the justice system.

- It is inconceivable that 3 to 4 years of psychiatric care is enough to cure a person who's mental health was so unstable that it led to such a violent act.
