- I am a step mother of a 4 yr old. I have 4 other children of my own and love this little girl as if I had her my self. The Bio-Mom lost custody of her in a 3 way custody battle. The Bio-Mom has another child she doesnt even have custody of she gave gaurdianship over to her sister of her son. In court she never really fought for her, now she is trying to be a good mom which I praise her for. BUT my step daughters father is in bad health ( heart..etc...) and if anything happen to him she would go back to her Bio-mom and I feel with her frequent moves and unstable life the child should not be allowed to go back there to be given to her aunt as her other brother has. I helped my husband fight for custody of her to put her in a stable home with her other siblings. It would tear me apart along with her other siblings if we lost her. She has come a long way since we have had her and we would hate to see her fall back. The Bio-Mom has visitation and I would have no problem with keeping it like that I would just

- I am going through a very tough time right now, due to step-parents really not having any rights. I have been the mother of my 12yr and 13yr old step sons. For almost ten yrs they were obviously very young when they came to live with me and my husband, this was due to there mother neglecting them and having them removed by the state. Recently my husband was in a near fatal accident and recieved a Traumatic Brain Injury. Although it is a hard thing to accustom a family to we had plenty of support from my family and my husbands. The minute his ex-wife who has not had really anything to do with either of them over the years heard of this she took complete advantage of it and obtained soul custody of the boys. I also had children when me and my husband got married over the yrs. we have raised all of them as siblings and we never even used the word step in our home. The boys claim that they don't even know what she looks like and they just want her to leave them alone so they can be normal kids as they say and keep living their life were they are happy and well taken care of unfortunately there is really nothing out there to protect them or me from this happening because she is using that my husband is no longer mentally capable fo caring for them and this is best for the boys. I am so outraged over this how would she know what is best for them she doesn't even know them and how could a Judge grant this after having all of the evidence of how she treated them before and not even request some kind of home inspection on her, counseling, or something to help these children. This is just been horrible on my whole family. At this point my husband and I will have raised them just a few years from their adult life and just like that she gets them back. None of this is in the best interest of any of the children involved in my opinion, but my hands seemed tied at this point it just breaks my heart.
