We the undersigned are strongly opposed to the proposed closure of Church Lawton Primary School. Our unique and wonderful school is a valuable community resource and a place where there are many happy and fulfilled children. Its closure would also deal a blow to the local community as we are hosts for the over 60s club and the village fete.
Our school provides a welcoming and supportive environment for all children and also has a particular expertise for children with Special Educational Needs. We do not see why our parental choice should be removed and our children should be forced to disrupt their education.
We ask you to consider our alternative proposals.

- This school is the heart of the Church Lawton village community and represents not only a valuable and inclusive educational resource for local children across several age ranges and educational abilities but also a focal point for a broad spectrum of local residents groups. Its closure would literally tear the heart out of this small and close knit community.

- This is a really excellent school, every single thing they do is about the children. Individual learning style supports the way I want my child educated, not crammed to pass SAT's. The CVA (Governments measure of how much the school develops the child) the school produces is really excellent only the schools with higher values are closed to new entrants. This is how a school should be and we need to keep it here not just for our children but for all the children of Cheshire.

- The school is unique in that it provides individually focused schooling for the children. The high esteem in which the school is held amongst the parents will hopefully count a great deal and should be recognised by CCC.

- Toom many smaller schools are closing, and now that we are being told to cut down on travelling time/using petrol etc, surely it is better to keep these schools open so that more and more people can walk to school. the Government have already got rid of the smaller shops and post offices, surely they should be utilising the smaller schools, and using those premises at the weekend for more community facilities, instead of closing them down.

- Schools such as Church Lawton are more than just a school. They are an integral part of their community - a focal point, a meeting place for parents, somewhere that children from the immediate neighbourhood forge friendships, a place for community activities. My son has been educated at this school and it provided a vital grounding to his education. This school must be kept open

- I strongly believe that the school`s future is in providing the safe, rural environment that it does currently in order to provide a high standard of education to local kids.

- I am strongly in favour of the balanced, quality education that schools like Church Lawton provide. They are a fundamental part of small towns and villages and this school cannot be allowed to close.

- I am the mother of 6 children so education has been a big part of my life. It saddens me that a decision like this can be taken, which has implications for so many families, let alone teaching staff and all others employed by the school. What happens to the senior citizens and other events that take place there. What about the fantastic fundraising opera evening that was held there last week. CCC need to think about ALL of the implications of closing schools. Sometimes decisions should be based on what is best for the children rather than what is right for the CCC balance sheet.
