AGAINST ADOT Highway 69 Barrier Porposal

The Arizona Department of Transportation plans to build a two-mile concrete barrier in the Highway 69 median through Diamond Valley from Sunrise Drive to Sundog Ranch Road with one break at Ramada Road.

Whereas there is obvious opposition from Prescott, Prescott Valley and Yavapai County governments and residents regarding the ADOT Jersey-Barrier proposal which will create new safety issues, worsen an already dangerous community hazard and result in wasteful spending of our tax dollars and more injuries and deaths.

And whereas the Arizona Department of Transpiration (ADOT) has presented a flawed study regarding the barriers leaving out of their analysis known risks published within the DOT and Transportation Research Board.

We the undersigned request the current plan be abandoned and a new comprehensive study be completed and made public that will address the current safety hazard on this highway in a manner suited to the residential nature of this area, and fitting for the growing communities affected by this problem area known as Blood Alley.

    • I have a vacation home in Prescott. Prescott is no longer a sleepy little town. How can anyone ignore that Hwy 69 is an urban street? With the hill and the curves especially in the rain and snow, 55 MPH is absolutely insane. Look 5 years in the future. 69 is more commercial every day. Divided road with traffic lights and turn lanes is a good solution. You know what happens when people put in stupid traffic solutions? Drivers get angry and drive erratically causing more danger.
