Women should be allowed to try out for the Navy Seals. I'm a sophmore in highschool, and I'm petitioning this now so that when I come of age I can try out. Don't think I'm not serious because this is an online petition, this is just a small extra, I have a real petition going too.

Men and women have equal rights. Yes, men are generally stronger, but there are women in the world that are stronger. If you find a women who is stronger than a man, why should he be allowed to try out and not her, just because he is a man?

Many people argue that strength isn't the only issue, the smell of a womans blood during menstruation can attract dogs and sharks, they can develop yeast infections if they don't bathe for at least 2 weeks, some larger breasts make the wearing of certain armor cumbersome, extra facilities that don't exist will have to be provided for the opposite sex, like berthing quarters and latrines, all combat medics will require additional training on female anatomy, sexual harassment and ensuing disciplinary actions will interfere with team cohesion, pregnacy during long tours can hinder a mission, etc.

But ALL of those things can be overcome, every last one of them. If a women makes it, she can have a surgery of her choice so she can no longer get pregnant or have her period, etc. etc. etc. So, if you agree that women should just be allowed to tryout, with no "special treatment", and just as high of standards as men, then you should sign my petition.

    • I need this to be passed before I get out of high school so that I can be a SEAL!!! We are just as capable as men and can find solutions to problems such as our menstral cycles.

    • there is no logical reason for a female to join besides men not able to control their sexual urges

    • I totally agree, for one if a man can't deal with the site of a women in battle, he obviously isn't mentally strong enough for battle. On top of that, if the physical aspect is such a problem, don't hold different standards for men and women, keep it to one standard at all times.

    • You're right in every sense. It's just like women not having the right to vote until the 1900's. I hope that eventually women will be allowed to join.

    • Theres noway any of you little girls can handle the seal trainning. Are you really prepared to run for days on no sleep or very little? If you think your tough enough research their training and start trying just the physical part, it will be next to impossible to create the mental part. If you can find a girl that is stronger than a man , that doesn't mean that man would be able to pass the training either.Whether you like it or not real men always look out for the weaker person , we take care of our mothers, wife, kids or anyone who needs help.If you want to serve in the military ,great ,but pick something you are able to do and will be an asset not a liability. QUIT WATCHING G.I. JANE thats not the real world, best of luck in whatever you grow up to be.

    • The bottom line: I say if a woman can pass all of the SAME tests required of a man, there should be no hinderance to her inclusion in the Navy Seals. The \% of women qualifiying here is extremely low, but the point is: if a woman shows PHYSICAL and mental strength equal to that of a man, she should not be denied entrance. END.

    • i am very upset at the fact that i am excluded from the SEALS. emotions are not a factoer for me i know for a fact that i can handel the sight of brothers in arms dieing in front of me. i know i could be just as strong mentaly and phisicaly as every other guy there. im not saying they should allow every femele that thinks they are tough to join im saying put them through all the same training and try out conditions as the men and if they step up and can do it then why not let them in?
