Canadians against another prorogation December 2009

We the under signed Canadians demand that Gov. Gen Michaлlle Jean reject Prime Minister Stephen Harper's request to prorogue Parliament.

We feel that our government has spent an enormous amount of money and time on current bills and committees during this parliamentary session and prorogation will waste all of this time and money. We feel that it is our right to have our elected members of parliment answer to the House of Commons and that prorogation strips all Canadians of this right. Further more, we feel that Mr. Harper is requesting to end the current session of parliament as a way of suppressing information about detainees in Afghanistan.

    • Although I may not agree with all of the details of this petition, I agree in principle that the requested prorogation should not be granted at this time. I also believe that there are valid constitutional grounds upon which to deny prorogation.

    • I thought George W. Bush was a monster when he started an illegal war and drove the United States into recession. As it turns out, he was a minor nuisance compared to Stephen Harper, who consistently prevaricates, covers up, and breaks laws in order to stack the Senate with his toadies. All of these actions pale compared to his latest affront to the Canadian people and to democracy. Please do not grant Mr. Harper the right to prorogue Parliament again! He is behaving like a dictator and a fanatic.
