For those of us who are genuinely sick and disabled the new government reforms will make us an easy target to save the country thousands of pounds.
We believe that the constant vilification of sick and disabled claimants as work shy scroungers by the press has a great deal to do with increasing levels of harassment. We also believe that the DWP and successive government ministers and MPs have knowingly or recklessly fed stories and quotes to the press about claimants, which have drastically increased the levels of press hostility in recent years.
Amongst the example of what constitutes harassment, the EHRC include:
derogatory, demeaning or humiliating remarks
offensive or patronising language
insults
threats and intimidation
We need all sick and disabled claimants and their carers to sign this petition and help us to place the blame for the increasing hatred and harassment of disabled people where much of it belongs at the doors of the DWP and its ministers.

- To target the genuinely sick and disabledled against receiving these benefits is discrimination and in some cases even harrasment.

- Don't put unwell people through the stress of losing the money they rely upon just to save the government money.

- I have just been sent another limited capability form to fill out even though I have just had the trauma of an appeal for ESA which I won. There needs to be serious reforms for the genuinely sick and disabled.

- I whole-heartedly agree with this petition. As a disabled person myself, I am subjected to comments and behaviour by professional people who are quite simply trying to save money and not looking at how my illness affects me and those around me. At times I feel completely alone, useless and as though the world would be better off without me tagging along in the background. Is this really how the world should view the Uk and it's treatment of it's citizens?

- It might be more sensible to avoid panic amongst the disabled, which is all this new goverment has so far managed.

- Although not sick or disabled myself, I understand the concerns of the genuinely sick and disabled . Action should be taken against those who abuse the system without attacking those who need help and support.

- You need to think again. You are going to seriously hurt the genuine sick and disabled. Where is your humanity?

- As one of those who have been labelled as having ME, post viral fatigue syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome, and having witnessed many derogatory comments and read lectures from the psychiatric conferences which have referred to ME patients as "the undeserving sick" I am totally behind this petition. It is a terrible indictment on our so-called civilised society when the weakest and most disadvantaged are made scape-goats of a greedy insurance industry and a confused medical profession. My own illness turned out to be Lyme disease (borreliosis) and despite having found this out after 20 years of suffering, I am left with no consultant to treat my condition and a scandalous refusal of the NHS to treat Lyme as a chronic disease. One of the other shameful situations that has been revealed to me during this illness, is the shuffling of sick people under the mental health definitions, and those with a mental illness are then denied any recognition of their physical ailments.
