Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility

This is a petition requesting that Sony provide backwards compatibility on all Playstation 3 models available and models that have not yet been released if they ever are released. Despite the 40Gb lacking hardware to play Playstation and Playstation 2 titles, an option could be to allow for a software emulation download or even to download Playstation 1 and 2 titles via the Playstation Network.

    • I believe all consoles should be backwards compatible with their predacesors simply because it is too expensive to sell the game and buy its nex gen version then it is to keep it and play on older consoles.

    • with this move your company has become no better than microsoft. i have the x-box that is now worthless. my son has your ps1 and ps2 systems and as a parent it was nice to know when buying ps games i wasn't throwing money away. not any more! and to think my son has asked for the ps3 for x-mas. how do i explain to him that ps sold us out just like microsoft?
