Tim Hortons sells over 1 million cups of coffee each day across Canada. All these paper cups and plastic lids are ending up in our landfills and can take up to 15yrs for the cups to decompose in the landfills and the plastic lids take decades longer. The plastic used for Iced Capps and Iced Coffee also can take decades to decompose.
There is a simple solution to help reduce the amount of waste produced by our addictions caused by Tim Hortons.
They can start by replacing all their standard cups and lids with special compostable plastic cups made from corn, which break down in a few weeks in the right conditions. They can also use a corn cup for heated drinks as well, or switch to recycled paper for their coffee cups. There is also a plastic lid made from the same product they can use as lids instead of the standard plastic they are using now.
We need to get this tended to quickly, there is simply no need for all the trash being thrown into our landfills. Think, 1 million cups and lids per day.
This solution may be a bit more costly on behalf of Tim Hortons, but will benifit our Earth and everyone living on it.
Please take the time to educate yourself on this severe issue, and sign the petition.
The undersigned agree that the amount of waste produced from the use of paper and plastic is overwhelming to our landfills, and wish for Tim Hortons across Canada to replace their exsisting cups with a more 'greener' solution as requested.

    • To not have their containers recyclable is absurd

    • It's a sad world when an independantly funded student cafe has the presence of mind to use recyclable corn based plastics, and recycled paper cups and a massive coporation, who likely has a fair share of money to go around, can't bring themselves to invest the extra 15 cents a cup(if that).
