" Nuclear Free Burma"
A campaign for all human being.

Union of Burma is a beautiful country blessed with abundant of natural resources.
However, it is very unfortunate that we, the people of the Union of Burma, have not been able to utilize any of this grandeurs. Instead We have been get lost in misery on our Education, Health and all the livelihoods, due to the fact that the series of military dictators who rule or rather misrule our motherland, have been given priority just to prolong their illegitimate rule and fail to do any good toward our country.

Those dictators have been using more than 40\% of the state budget on defense and it has been among those countries in the world that uses least on health and education for its people. Nevertheless, they have been using a great deal of statefs cash on building hospital, school and universities for military personals. Other than spending heavily on military has been their priority, they have been striving to acquire the nuclear energy given lame excuse that there are energy shortages.

As a matter of fact, besides selling Natural Gases² developed from the off-shore fields, they have been planning to produce and sell thousands of megawatt of Hydro Power¹ to the neighboring countries has evidenced that Union of Burma has sufficient conventional energies more than they need.

With the bogus justification made by SPDC and their efforts to acquire the nuclear
energy is unacceptable and unconvincing for the people of Union of Burma. Furthermore, spending billions of Dollars on acquiring nuclear reactor is, in fact not projected to benefit the people of Union of Burma.

The actual intention behind these efforts is to pursue the nuclear armament and by
arming themselves with nuclear arsenal, they will:
1. Spill the evil influence beyond the boundaries of the Union of Burma.
2. To prolong the military dictatorship beyond the boundaries of the Union of
Burma.
3. Since the mismanagement, resulting in incompetent and lack of disciplines have been the norm of the SPDCfs governance, there are every reason to afraid that some kind of nuclear disaster like Chernobyl and other that happened in
Germany can be happened due to the poor maintains, lack of disciplines, substandard buildings, poor handling of hazards.

The International community including Japan, which is the very country that suffered from nuclear disaster and our neighbors ASEAN countries, has been working hard to reduce the nuclear arsenal and to clean the nuclear hazard. The whole world likes to make a nuclear free globe.

For those reasons mentioned above: As a civil society organization, Federation of Trade Unions-Burma and its affiliates:
1. Object and denounce the SPDC for trying to produce nuclear energy, nuclear
armaments and nuclear hazards, with the lame excuse to energy shortages.
2. Object and denounce the SPDC for wasting the large portion of the state budget
on procuring nuclear components and unnecessary expenditures on sending
military personals for acquiring nuclear theological trainings and expertise.
3. Object and denounce the North Korea and Russia Federation for giving the
nuclear components and technology and demand to stop it.

We would like to appeal to the Japanese Citizens, Japanese Labor Unions, International labor Unions and to all the world citizens to participate in our sign collection campaign, in order to promote the idea of Nuclear Free Burma.

    • Do not let Burma acquire nuclear materials. Their illegal military leadership already shows an appalling lack of good judgement, and with nuclear arms would be a huge threat to the world.
