We, the undersigned, believe that the current voting system used on American Idol is highly unethical, inappropriate, inaccurate, and above all, completely unfair to each and every one of the contestants! We find it unacceptable that many voters are capable of phoning in hundreds of votes for the same contestant, while hundreds of other voters cannot get through at all! This only produces results that are highly biased and discriminatory, as it does not allow all of the contestants to receive their equal, fair, and rightful chance at obtaining the title! Therefore, in all fairness to each contestant on American Idol, and in all fairness to voters who are unable to get through to place even one vote for their favorite contestant, we hereby demand that the voting system be changed to "1 Vote Per Household", beginning in the year 2004 for the 3rd season of American Idol, and that this new system remain in place for all American Idol seasons that follow!

    • It's not fair that AT&T Wireless subscribers have a better chance of getting who they want to win.

    • The clogged phone lines in the last AI competition kept Clay Aiken from being the new American Idol and the system is totally unfair.

    • I think this is extemely fair because you can tell who actually won and not who won by chance.

    • the system is so unfair the way it is now. it definately needs changed and this seems a good way to start. i don't know how it will succeed because i am sure individuals will find a way around the rules. but lets give it a chance

    • Obviously this system doesn't work that we have now, because the viewer cannot be guaranteed access to their favorites phone line. That was obvious this time!!!!! But even the one vote will not work either if the staff decides who they want to win from the start!!!!

    • I really don't see that the person who all the people want actually wins. Instead the same people are calling over and over So you only get the opinoin of a few. Which looks like it is their family. This is supposed to be American Idol not Studdard family idol

    • It doesn't matter how many times we vote..Fox cannot count. We wasted our time last year voting. I did not watch the first year and I will not watch the 3rd year..It is all fixed or rigged or whatever you want to call it...

    • I am unsure if the phone lines were open for the full three hours for Clay - the truth will eventually come out - someone will talk - and if you shamefully rigged it in Rueben's favor - that is a slap in the face for every voting participant

    • Clay was robbed and this will be proven when he sells more CDs than Ruben; therefore making him the true winner.

    • I'm convinced this years winner was not the overwhelming favorite based solely on the screwed up voting system

    • Please go to internet voting next year on American Idol, with ONE vote per household. The voting should be fair and I don't feel it was this past season. I tried hundreds of times to call in and vote and NEVER was able to get in to vote.
