American Girl (subsidiary of Mattel) makers of the historical 18" dolls, books and accessories is planning to phase-out and retire the Samantha Parkington doll and her entire collection. Samantha was one of the original first 3 historical dolls (along with Molly and Kirsten) to appear back in 1986. Tell the execs at Mattel to remain true to the spirit of Pleasant T. Rowland's original concept for these dolls and that they can't simply eliminate a beloved character that has been established for the last 22 years.

- You cannot take her from all the new little girls growing into AG, At least have the doll available for new AGers.

- I've been buying AG dolls since 1987. If Sam is "archived", I will not be purchasing anything more from American Girl, ever. Total I've spent on AG products to date is over $30,000. Shouldn't adult collectors count too?

- American Girl please rethink this decision. I received my Samantha doll on a beautiful Christmas morning in 1989. Since that moment I have made countless wonderful memories with her. My wish is for other young girls to be able to make cherished memories with their Samantha dolls, but young girls (and adult collectors) will now miss this opportunity.

- You are getting too commercial with the AG line. The uniqueness of an educational toy is being lost in mass marketing.

- We can do this! Mattel must understand that they cannot just retire a beloved doll. Let's show AG that we mean business!

- Please AG don't get rid of Samantha. My three daughters want all the historical dolls and haven't been able to get her yet. Give these girls a chance to enjoy Sam and her story like girls from the last 22 years have been able to.

- As my 10 year old daughter said "What about all the little girls that learn about Samantha in the future, but can't own her?" Please Mattel, reconsider!! We need to SAVE OUR History and your company can help do it!!!
