During the last few years, a disturbing trend has been happening in the church. This petition seeks to remedy and ask for the "Bells" to be rung during the consecration during the mass.
Many well meaning Catholics have no idea when the consecration takes place and the bells serve as an audio reminder. This is also a teaching tool for the younger generation as I have heard children ask there parents (when attending a mass where the bells are rung). "Mommy, why are they ringing those bells?"
We realize that this tradition has been eliminated, usually due to pastors who unfortunately believe that "All good Catholics know when the consecration takes place, there is no need to ring the bells".
We also understand that the church is not a democracy, where the people in general decide what should or should not be done with the Catholic liturgy (i.e. the ordination of female priests for example)
However, bringing back the ringing of the bells during consecration is not something that is forbidden, it has just fallen out of favor with some parishes due to apathy or under the guidance of a pastor being "ecumenical"
We the undersigned know that there are movements underway to modify the current version of the mass and we would like to ask, in a polite and respectful way that the bells be returned.
We think it will bring back a reverence to the mass that has seem to have been eroded over the past 40 years.
[Note: Even if your parish is currently ringing the bells during the consecration, please sign our petition because the more that sign it, will be an indicator that we don't want to lose that reverence, now or in the future]

- An Audio reminder is much needed for the realization that it is Jesus body, blood, soul and divinity truly on the altar at the moment of Consecration

- In heaven we will continuously hear the bells ringing to praise God, so we should practice now here on earth.

- I agree - most Catholics have no idea what the consecration actually means, much less when it occurs.

- Our parish has started ringing bells at consecration several months ago, so this is to keep them ringing in ours, and start ringing in others.

- my church, st john the evangalist, brought back the bells last year. I believe that the bells ABSOLUTLY lift everyone up spiritually and remind us all of the 'height of the mass. I miss them terribrly when i attend mass at a different church that does not ring! Something is missing. I do notice, very much so, that the bells create a reverence, precisely at that moment, of complete unity of us all. I like to imagine all of the bells ringing, at all of the masses being celebrated at that moment, echoing together in praise of our God. It is a beautiful image. Please return these sacred bells to all of the churches throughout the world.

- Do away entirely with the New Mass as it is a farce. TLM needs to be the true mass, with the Baltimore Catechism. Do away with JPII 1983 code of canon law, ecumenical garbage that has caused many to lose their souls with annulments

- I love this tradition because it really helps me focus on the sacredness of the moment. I pray that whatever way pleases our Lord shall be our practice.
