The purpose of this petition is to get Shannon Sharpe, former NFL tight-end who played for the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens and a graduate of Savannah State University, to come back to the University for Homecoming 2008, October 31-November 1, 2008 or at any time during the 2008 or 2009 SSU football season (preferably the week of) so that Savannah State University can give him the honor he so deserves and officially retire his number 2 jersey.

    • I can remember Shannon and Earl positioning themselves on the left and right sides of the football field. Richard Basil was their quarterback at the time. These guys were our stars. I actually won the homecoming door prize one year featuring Shannon, Earl and Basil. Let's bury whatever happened that prevented one of our own from coming back home. I, a 1985 and 2001 graduate of Savannah State; an employee of Savannah State since 1987, and cheerleader coach 1988, would like to personally say to Shannon, "Come Back Home Because You Are Our Hero" !
