There is a petition circulating amongst the CUPE 3903 Membership urging the bargaining team to drop the demand for a 2 year contract at the bargaining table. This would be detrimental to OUWCC and CUPE Ontario's attempt to set up coordinated bargaining across the sector in 2010.

By signing this petition you will give notice to CUPE 3903's bargaining team that you want them to remain firm on this demand.

    • I feel this is the most important issue on the table, coordinated bargaining is out best chance to improve the systemic exploitation of contract faculty.

    • Sisters and brothers, a 2-year contract will give the sector greater leverage in 2010. Local 3903 is a leader in the university sector and a 3-year agreement would set a bad example. The employer fears our unity and is trying to break-up our coordinated bargaining efforts. Stand firm for a two-year agreement.

    • inter-union solidarity is critical, universities everywhere are under attack and we need 3903's support if we are to fight for adequately funded and democratic universities across the province.

    • Like I have said at several GMM's, York Admin has no financial plan beyond 2010, why should we sign on to something so unplanned?

    • For the sake of the entire sector, including the local I represent (CUPE 3906), please hold out for a 2010 contract. We CANNOT do this without CUPE 3903. Nothing less than the collective fate of all who believe in our sector and movement is at stake. A fundamental shift is on the horizon, but depends on your actions in the coming weeks. We all support you, and thank you for holding out. In solidarity, Jesse

    • Please hold out for a 2010 expiration date! The bargaining team, executive and general membership owe this to the thousands of 3903 members who have fought to build the contract we now all enjoy, and the the future of tens of thousands of workers and hundreds of thousands of students across the province, counpunded exponentially in the coming years, is in your hands. Please, make the right choice -- don't sell us all out. In solidarity, Colleen

    • A two-year contract is a necessity both for the benefit of our members and for our allies in the sector.
