BSL possibility in McComb, Mississippi

August 2006, during a City Council workshop, Police Chief Billy Hughes asked Councilmen to take into consideration city restrictions on Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and Doberman pinschers. Stricter vicious dog laws are very important BUT not by singling out a specific breed of dog. ALL breeds of dogs can be vicious. Focus should be placed on stricter leash laws and enforcing laws already in effect, also stricter punishment for irresponsible pet owners of ALL breeds. It is not IN the animal to be mean, they are TAUGHT to be mean. We are asking all responsible pet owners to join together with us to stop Breed Specific laws from being passed here in McComb, Mississippi. Please sign this petition to support our fight.

- BSL is unconstitutional, and completely unfounded. The American Tempermant Testing society rates "pitbull" (generic term for many breeds) dogs as rating higher than many dogs thought of as "traditional" family pets i.e. cocker spaniels, labradors, etc. Nobody wants to hear "Lab bites child" on the headlines, "PITBULL BITES CHILD!" does..... Let the facts speak for themselves, get out and meet some APBT's and see what this breed is really about. Sgt Stubby the first (and still most decorated) United States war dog was an APBT. Petey from the Little Rascals. They were not called the "nanny dog" for no reason, they look after children as if they are their own puppies. A well-bred "pitbull" is the most stable dog ever created in my opinion, I've been bitten by many dogs (Labrador, GSD, Chow, Cocker, Pomeranian, Shiba Inu)....never a APBT or "pitbull".
