This petiton is to modify Section 320.02(12), of the Florida Statutes.

* Section 320.02(12), Florida Statutes, requires registration or re-registration to be withheld on any motor vehicle whether the owner or co-owner of the vehicle has a suspension against the driver license. It appears that it was the intent of the legislature for fines and parking violations to be paid regardless to which co-owner committed the violation. *

This statute is unfair to the co-owner of the vehicle, who still has a valid license and no driving infrations. Why should they be punished for the other co-owners mistakes by not being able to legally renew their tag?

With the state of the economy this statute just creates more of a burden on people who don't deserve it. I believe it should be modified or removed.

    • Ex-Wife racked up $4k in fines and her license is suspended. We have been divorced for a while, yet this law has me paying for a truck I cannot legally drive because I cannot renew the tags. It's turned my life upside down worse than the divorce which cause me to lose my house and good credit. If I can't keep my reliable vehicle to get to work. I don't know what todo.
