SAVE 600,000 CHILDREN from SEXUAL EXPLOITATION over the Internet!

According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, anywhere from 60,000 to 600,000 street children 12 years old and below, are victims of child prostitution. In fact, the Philippines ranks fourth among countries with the most number of prostituted children.

Child Porn is defined as any representation, by whatever means, of a child engaged in real or simulated explicit sexual activities or any representation of the sexual parts of a child, the dominant characteristic of which is depiction for a sexual purpose. (UNICEF)

Defined by US federal standards as many visual representation of a minor or appearing to be a minor under the age of 18 engaged in a sexually explicit conduct, regardless of whether or not the image depicts actual sexual act.(Michelle Alarcon)

A study found extensive evidence that child pornography is occurring in the Philippines as a result of both foreign and domestic perpetrators seeking to exploit poor and vulnerable families and children.

One of the most worrisome findings is the link between local producers and networks of pornographers operating overseas for the purposes of distributing child pornography over the Internet. The study was commissioned by UNICEF and conducted by the Programme on Psychosocial Trauma and Human Rights of the University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Developmental Studies (UP CIDS).

It may now be the country's fourth largest source of GNP. (1Billion a year)

An alarming rate of 70\% of the offenders are the parents of these children, 2\% are relatives, 11\% are the caretakers and 10\% are strangers.

The facts shown above proves that immediate action must be taken now!

Currently, the No. 55 - Anti-Child Pornography Act is pending in the Senate.

    • After doing personal research on how easy it is to find child pornography even today, when google has taken so many measures to curb its use, I find it appauling of the US's current situation with child pornography on the internet. I wish to sign this petition to make sure child pornography across the globe is entirely stopped.
