The new proposed minority reservation bill in Andhra Pradesh is totally discriminatory and biased and sets a bad precedent. Reservations in jobs are justified for economically backward people as they give them much wanted economic support. But the basis for determining this should be economics alone. Minority reservation bill is discrimination on the basis of religion. We strongly oppose this and request the Andhra Pradesh Government and the Government of India to take a fresh look at this.

- Yes, I agree it's high time the government switched its reservation policy to one based on economic status rather than caste or religion. Caste based policies will only deepen the social divide in the long run I think. Besides there are many people in "other castes" who need as much economic support as people from "backward castes".

- it is unfortunate that any kind of reservation is offered in employment. there is enough reservation in education to encourage the underprivileged, and if a candidate is unsuccessful in utilising the chance to improve his/her merit, then he/she is not worthy of a wild card job. it would be stealing jobs from meritorious candidates and giving them to less capable people, reducing the efficiency of the system.

- I assume, India has changed its preamble from democratic, sovereign, secular, republic(thou' not in the order) to get rid of its secularism (btw, when was it allowed to be secular by the pseudo-secularists)... add to it the fundamental right of no discrimination based on caste, religion blah blah... good to loose some of these tenets as nothing is omnipresent...

- The "minorities" for whom this is targeted may please rise up and say, "C'mon, we have the same number of eyes, ears, hands and one small brain too, like everybody else. We can compete and go by merit. Stop insulting us, and find some better job to do."

- These kind of reservations spoils the quality of the work and the reputation of our country. Reservations are going on from 1950s and still they have not reached a logical point of conclusion which still means politicians consider people as fools. Awake arise and stop this injustice to deserving people.

- We must protect the merit based system. Quota regime does not help the SC/ST or OBC. This type of carrot is hoodwinking the weaker sections for vote bank politics and cheap popularity. We must desist from such divisive politics. To empower weaker sections we have to strengthen the primary and secondary education for the sc/st/obc and offer them free education till that level. Higher education has to be merit based.
