We the undersigned, respectfully request that the Assyrians, the indigenous people of Iraq, receive a Assyria region according the federal system in the Iraqi constitution, equally with other groups, annexed directly to the central government. The Assyrians have been persecuted for centuries, and one of the results of the latest war in Iraq is that there are currently over five hundred thousand Assyrian refugees. It would be terrible to see a nation that has been in existence in its motherland for thousands of years to become completely depleted from the area. Please look into addressing this crisis before it is too late.

    • It's a moral obligation on the world, to make Assyrians live equally (at least) to other groups in Iraq, we are not the subjects of kurds neither Arabs or any other group, but we are the subjects of the Iraqi STATE and we should have our own region under the Iraqi central control within one Iraq

    • Mr. Obama, we Assyrians are the indigenous poeple of Iraq as you and the U.S. govt. are aware of Assyria's history and its inventive civilized contributions to this world.The U.S. govt. and Britian helped establish KRG on Assyria's land and it's very capable of creating an Autonomous Region for the Assyrians. We have been and continue to be persecuted,oppressed,and massacred under corrupt Islamic dictators which has resulted in a mass exodus. Assyrians rightly deserve to live in their ancestors' country, just like visiting Kurds who've forcefully and unlawfully occupied Northen Assyria.There are 400,000 Assyrians in U.S. who are hard working and honest tax paying citizens. As an obiding U.S. taxpayer, I expect my govt. to deliver and extend the same courtesy , hefty financial aid,and the establishment of Assyrian Self-Government in Nineveh Plains, just as it accomplished for muslim Kosovo and so-called Kurdistan. 6759 year-old Assyrians deserve their own region and oil revenue sharing like nomadic Kurds.
