Just as Star Trek fans are currently enjoying hi-definition remastered versions of their favorite television programs, we Babylon 5 fans would also like to purchase high-def Blu-ray (and higher-def DVD) versions of Babylon 5.

In 2009, you are currently selling a repackaged version of Babylon 5 on DVD in 480i video. As far as I am able to determine, these discs have not changed much since 2004 when digital televisions were not yet popular. Whilst the 480i discs were suitable for viewing on analog televisions in 2004, they really show their age when viewed on the digital televisions recently purchased as part of the conversion from analog broadcasts to DTV.

To summarize:

1) Higher-def on DVD:

Warner Bros. needs to publish the whole five-year set of Babylon 5 on more than thirty DVD discs (perhaps just three episodes per disc) using 480p along with lower MPEG-2 compression.

2) High-definition on Blu-ray:

Warner Bros. needs to publish the whole five-year set of Babylon 5 in high-def on Blu-ray using 1080i or 1080p.

    • I'd gladly re-buy all of Babylon 5 & Crusade on Blu-Ray *IF* they (WB/WHV) recreated (like on the B5: Lost Tales DVD) the CGI and Composite CGI scenes in TRUE 16:9 widescreen 780P or 1080P *NOT* the 4:3 TOP & BOTTOM CROPPED & ENLARGED to 16:9 that we have now on DVD.

    • DVD is not a priority. What is there is sufficient for now. Please focus on wringing out every last iota of quality for Blu-Ray.
